I just wanted to say again how much I Absolutely Friggin LOVE this saffire pro 24 dsp with the VRM tech built in!!!! Every interface on the planet should have VRM (virtual reference monitoring. cause realistically, if I'm just using Live alone (no plugins, no rewire) I can go with 2.5ms OVERALL latency with no crackles. then started experimenting with my 'Firewire Driver Latency' and my "Asio Buffer Size' til I got the perfect blend with absolutely no crackles.īut you gotta do it with a heavy load so you don't have to go back and adjust later. It was just a matter of loading up the biggest song I have using the most FX in Live, and a big song in Reason rewired into Live, and a few plugins. Once I figured out anything I needed physically connected to my system. In addition, I am also using a Torq audio interface for my turntables at the same time. For me, I have an old digital mixboard (EZBus) that sounds beautiful and uses ADAT lightpime to send out 8 digital tracks into my pro 24 dsp, and although my EZBus can go up to 96kHz, it uses double data for each track so I'm only left with 4 ADAT tracks if I go over 48kHz. but we not gonna count the 4-5 times I got my settings wrong!). What I did was figure out what I needed physically first (after messing things all up my first couple times trying to get my settings right. ![]() I'm assuming you know these setting get changed right on the Saffire mixer program. I have tried other settings that have worked perfectly fine with even lower latencies, but these are the settings that I settled with because of my ADAT needs. This gives me an overall latency of 7.88ms in Live (3.13ms in and 4.75ms out). for me, I put my 'Firewire Driver Latency' on medium and my "Asio Buffer Size' on 128 and my 'Sample Rate' at 48kHz. That's going to depend on YOUR computer and YOUR OS setup and YOUR needs. I absolutely LOVE it, and I LOVE the VRM for my night sessions (especially because the 'Pro Studio - US Yellow Cone PRO' with my Sony MDR-7506 headphones, matches the sound of my real monitors perfectly! There have been times when I had to take the headphones off to double check that I actually turned my monitors off cause it sounded so real).īut latency. If you continue to experience problems, please contact Focusrite Technical Support.I got the same thing about 2 months ago. To turn the outputs grey in MixControl, simply hold down the SHIFT key on your keyboard while clicking on them. However please exercise caution as any signal coming out of the corresponding line outputs will be very loud. Grey outputs will output audio at full volume, and so having the headphone outputs set to Grey will mean that utilising just the headphone output level control should give sufficient level to the headphones. If using the headphone outputs set to Blue, ensure that the monitor level is nice and high. It is possible to have the headphone outputs set to ‘Blue’, yet still not hear audio as there isn’t sufficient level. ![]() ![]()
